Dangerous Medical Claims & "Pending Karma" Extortion
While deceptive marketing is one issue, Lunar Astro crosses a dangerous ethical and legal line by making unverified medical claims and using psychological extortion to trap vulnerable clients.
Unverified Medical Astrology: The Autism Claims
Deepanshu Giri and Lunar Astro have publicly claimed to provide "astrological insights and remedies" for severe medical conditions, including Autism and Schizophrenia. On their official platforms, they have published case studies claiming to treat children with severe speech impairments and autism using astrological remedies.
Furthermore, social media posts from the founder have boasted about advising clients on physical medicine (such as "hydrogen" treatments for breathing and blood pressure issues) based purely on their Vedic charts. Offering medical advice and claiming to cure or treat neurodevelopmental disorders without a medical license is a severe violation of medical and consumer protection laws (such as the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act).
The "Pending Karma" Extortion Tactic
Multiple consumer reports on platforms like MouthShut reveal a disturbing pattern of psychological coercion. During consultations (often with anonymous "Code 5007" proxies), clients are told their charts contain severe "doshas" or "pending karmas" that will doom their future.
Once the client is terrified, the upsell begins. They are pressured into buying exorbitant remedies or enrolling in premium courses—such as the "Bhrigu Vastu" course, which costs nearly ₹2 Lakhs—to "fix" their karma.
Threats of Black Magic and Curses
When clients realize the readings are generic and ask for a refund, the fear-mongering escalates into outright threats. Verified reviews document instances where Lunar Astro coordinators and students explicitly threatened dissatisfied customers with "black magic," "tantra," and "curses" that would ruin their lives if they posted negative reviews or demanded their money back.
